Rectifier transformers are widely used in electrolytic electrochemistry, transmission, traction, electrostatic precipitators, DC transmission and other systems which need direct current power supply. Our rectifier transformer absorbed the excellent experiences of same industry at home and abroad. Raw materials such as high magnetic silicon steel sheet and high quality oxygen free copper wire are used. We adopt production technology such as advanced integral assembly per phase for windings, the core are laminated by five step-lap method to reduce iron loss and noise, crimped winding connections, precision machining for tank surface and so on, which make technologic performance at the leading level in domestic. We can design and manufacture various types of products according to user’s requirement.

The transformer used as the power source of the rectifier is called a rectifier transformer. Most industrial rectified DC power supplies are obtained from the AC grid through rectifier transformers and rectifier equipment.

The use of rectifier transformer

1. Electrochemical Industry

This is the industry that uses the most rectification, electrolysis of non-ferrous metal compounds to produce aluminum, magnesium, copper and other metals; electrolysis of salt to produce chlor-alkali; electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen and oxygen.

2. DC power supply for traction

DC power grid for mine or city electric locomotives. Because the valve side is connected to the overhead line, there are many short-circuit faults, the DC load variation is large, and the electric locomotive often starts, causing short-term overload to vary degrees. For this reason, the temperature rise limit and current density of this type of transformer are both low. The impedance is about 30% greater than the corresponding power transformer.

3. DC power supply for transmission

It is mainly used to supply power to DC motors in electric drives, such as the armature and excitation of rolling mills.

4. For DC transmission

The voltage of this type of rectifier transformer is generally above 110kV, and the capacity is tens of thousands of kilovolt-amperes. Special attention should be paid to the AC and DC superposition of ground insulation.

In addition, there are DC power supplies for electroplating or electrical processing, DC power supplies for excitation, DC power supplies for charging and electrostatic dust removal, etc.

Rectifier transformer common problem

1. What are the cooling media of the rectifier transformer?

There are generally three kinds of media that can be used to bring heat out of the inverter: air, water and oil. The heating components of the high-voltage inverter are mainly two parts: one is the rectifier transformer, and the other is the power component. In the early days, the transformer mainly used oil cooling, that is, immersing the transformer in the oil tank. Because the specific heat of oil is higher than that of air and the insulation strength is high, this cooling method is the mainstream heat dissipation of high-power transformers. However, due to the need for maintenance of oil products, the seal at the outlet is not easy to solve. With the advancement of insulation materials, dry-type transformers have become dominant at low and medium power levels. Dry-type transformers are cooled by air. The transformer can also be water-cooled, that is, the coil of the transformer is made hollow, and pure water is passed inside to use the pure water to take away the heat.

2. Why does the current source inverter require a larger transformer capacity?

The design of the transformer generally only looks at the rated capacity, not the rated power, because its current is only related to the rated capacity. For the voltage source type inverter, since its input power factor is close to 1, the rated capacity is almost equal to the rated power. This is not the case with current source inverters. The power factor of the input side transformer is at most equal to the power factor of the load asynchronous motor, so for the same load motor, the rated capacity is larger than the transformer of the voltage source inverter.
