There are generally three kinds of media that can be used to bring heat out of the inverter: air, water and oil. The heating components of the high-voltage inverter are mainly two parts: one is the rectifier transformer, and the other is the power component. In the early days, the transformer mainly used oil cooling, that is, immersing the transformer in the oil tank. Because the specific heat of oil is higher than that of air and the insulation strength is high, this cooling method is the mainstream heat dissipation of high-power transformers. However, due to the need for maintenance of oil products, the seal at the outlet is not easy to solve. With the advancement of insulation materials, dry-type transformers have become dominant at low and medium power levels. Dry-type transformers are cooled by air. The design of the transformer generally only looks at the rated capacity, not the rated power, because its current is only related to the rated capacity. For the voltage source type inverter, since its input power factor is close to 1, the rated capacity is almost equal to the rated power. This is not the case with current source inverters. The power factor of the input side transformer is at most equal to the power factor of the load asynchronous motor, so for the same load motor, the rated capacity is larger than the transformer of the voltage source inverter.
