What Are the Uses of Oil-Immersed Transformers?

Power transformers are the most important component of the electricity grid. The design of transformers varies depending on the cooling and electrical insulation system used. There are dry-type transformers and oil-immersed transformers.

The majority of transformers in use are oil-immersed. They have an oil core in the oil tank. This oil removes heat and ensures the dielectric strength of the insulation. Transformers with an air cooling system is called dry-type transformers. The next oil-immersed transformer supplier will mainly give you an introduction to oil type transformers.

Uses of Oil-immersed transformers

Oil-immersed transformers are used in distribution or substations. Their cores and coils are immersed in oil, which cools and insulates them. The oil is circulated by convection movement through the coils in the coils and the pipes around the coil and core assembly. The oil is cooled at a smaller rating through the exterior of the tank and at a larger rating by means of air-cooled radiators.

Oil-immersed transformers can be earthed, pad-mounted or pole-mounted for outdoor use. They provide efficient performance in a wide range of applications including transmission and distribution networks, renewable energy generation and small-scale industry.

Oil-immersed transformer construction

Oil-immersed and dry-type transformers have the same basic components, consisting of a magnetic core, windings and bushings. The core provides a path for the magnetic flow. The winding generates a magnetic field and consists of a conductor coil, wound around the core and insulated with a pressure plate spacer and shield. The thickness of the winding insulation increases with voltage. The bushing connects the transformer windings to the substation.

A feature of oil-immersed transformers is the oil storage cabinet. It simplifies operation by monitoring the oil level in the tank and providing space for the thermal expansion of the oil.

Advantages of  Power Transformer With Off Circuit Tap Changer

1.Good Economic Performance

The no-load loss for S11 series products decreased by 10.3% on averagely, the no-load current decreased by 22.4% based on the S9 series.

2.Long Service Life

The transformer tank adopts a hermetical structure, tank and tank cover can be connected by bolts or welded firmly, the transformer oil won't contact air, so that extends the service life effectively.

3.High Operation Reliability

Improve the relevant sealing parts for the tank, increase the reliability and advance the technical level to ensure the reliability of the seal.

4.Small Installation Area

S11-M series transformer tank uses the corrugated plate radiator. When the oil temperature changes, the corrugated plate will proceed with thermal expansion, which can replace the role of the oil conservator. the corrugated plate tank has a beautiful appearance, less occupied area.
